Are you ready for summah?
We are about to get our first taste of summer-like heat in the next few days with several towns hitting 90 degrees!
First things first…
Today being the last day of May, let’s take a quick look back…
May 2023 will go in the books drier than normal by about an inch or so. We did get some soaking rainfall back on May 20th, but not much since then.
May 2023 will also be recorded as milder than average by a degree or two, thanks in large part to the very warm stretch we had in the second week.
Looking ahead to June, the first month of meteorological summer…
For my money, June is one of the best New England months on the calendar…typically characterized by long, warm days.
Now back to the near term…
Another nice day today, highs surpassing 80 away from the Coastline.
The next few days will see many towns hitting 90 degrees away from the immediate Coastline, especially north and west of Boston.
Then, a sharp cooldown Friday night and early Saturday along with some showers and thunderstorms. Timing of the rain is still a bit uncertain, however the greatest chance comes between late Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. We should be able to clear out by later on Saturday.
Looking farther ahead into next week…most indications are for a dip in the jetstream over the northeast…this would mean cooler than average temperatures and a risk of some showers at times.
