Cold start, mild finish this week

Happy Monday!

Man, it was cold this morning!  This was the coldest morning of the season thus far with several towns dropping into the teens!

Boston dipped into the 20s for the first time this season this morning and yesterday, the City went below 32 for the first time in 233 days.

This week will be another quiet one…a cold start but a very mild finish.

By the end of the week, parts of our area will be near or above 60 degrees.  Keep in mind that the average high this time of year is in the low 50s.

Unfortunately, the milder temperatures will be accompanied by our next chance of significant rainfall.

Details still need to be worked out, but as of right now it looks like Saturday may bring the highest threat of some heavy rainfall.

It has been quite dry here for the last several weeks, a BIG change from the weather pattern we were stuck in for most of the summer and early fall.  Since the beginning of October, we have been about 4″ BELOW average for rainfall.  Again, I wouldn’t say we NEED the rain right now, but it has been rather hard to come by recently.

Last but not least, we have a meteor shower coming up later this week.  Typically, the Leonids are one of the better shows of the entire year.

However, given the timing of this year’s show (Friday night-early Saturday peak), it is unlikely that we will be able to enjoy the show with clouds and rain in the forecast.

Oh, and this Thursday the WBZ weather team will have our 2023-2024 winter weather forecast!  Stay tuned!!
