Welcome to Summer 2023!
I am trying a new group email today…Hope you are all getting this…someone told me that they hadn’t been receiving my blogs for the last several weeks. Perhaps you enjoyed the break!
The summer solstice officially arrives at 10:57am, making this the longest day of the year.
We have reached our latest sunsets of the year as well…the sun will continue to set after 8pm through August 4th
Today is also “Show Your Stripes Day”! These graphics are meant to further the discussion on climate change and show, in a simplified manner, how much our planet has been warming. Each stripe represents the average temperatures for 1 year…blue is below average and red above…you can clearly see the deeper reds in the last few decades!
So, with all this talk of summer and warming, you may be wondering, when will it start to FEEL like summer around here?!
We remain stuck in a very cloudy, coolish, unsettled pattern for the foreseeable future.
Today will remain dry, but there is a chance of showers and storms each and every day tomorrow through the middle of next week!
At least temperatures will start to warm up…with highs nearing 80 on Friday and over the Weekend.
There will also be a noticeable increase in humidity starting on Friday.
In general, the higher chances of rain this weekend will be north and west of Boston and during the afternoon and evenings. Not expecting any washouts, but certainly numerous showers and storms popping up both days.
One final reminder, if you have some clear sky overhead, check out the Moon, Venus and Mars around 9pm tonight!
Last but not least, Tropical Storm Bret continues to make its way towards the Antilles. It will pass through the Island chain Tomorrow night and then continue into the Caribbean Sea, where it is forecast to gradually weaken.
