Description: J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Discussion Group: Would you like to start the New Year as a member of a lively book discussion group? Our adult book discussion group meets the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Atwood room. Reading selections alternate each month between fiction and non-fiction. On Thursday, January 8, 2015, the group will meet to discuss The Girls of Atomic City; the untold story of the women who helped win WWII by Denise Kiernan (Non-Fiction). Copies of the 2015 reading list are available on our website and in the Information Services Dept. Each month copies of the selected title are available for check-out at the Main Desk.

Description: IPAD BASICS: To be taught by Technology Instructor Rita Gavelis. Registration begins (by phone or in person) in the Information Services Dept. starting Monday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. Are you thinking of buying an iPAD or do you have one and want to learn all of its bells and whistles? Would you like to know how to download free etitles (books and magazines), streaming videos, and audiobooks from Overdrive, Indieflix, and Zinio, the vendors that the Library subscribes to? Then, this is the workshop for you. Please sign up for just one of two program offerings: on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. or Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m.

Description: Story Time and Book Club Registration: Monday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the ground floor Meeting Room. These popular programs fill up fast so register in person, if you can, for our small group story times and for all of our book clubs. Telephone registration will begin Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. Book clubs are for grades Kindergarten through Grade 5 and meet once a month from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The Mini Masters Art Book Club is for children in Grades three and up and meets one Wednesday afternoon a month from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The Evening Adult/Child book clubs meet one evening a month: Four Eyes for children in grades three and four meet one Tuesday evening a month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Book Buzz for children in grades five and six meet one Thursday a month 7 to 8 p.m.

Description: Welcome Art Students of Westford Academy!
Art on Main proudly continues the January tradition of hosting a group show by Westford Academy art students and celebrates with a gala reception on Thursday, January 8, from 5 to 8 PM.
The show offers a sampling of this year’s work. These young people are good–Westford Academy students are frequently winners of “Boston Globe” Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Their work reflects the Westford Academy art department philosophy of balancing academic (traditional) lessons in art with less conventional, open-ended approaches. The
curriculum provides a strong foundation in design while emphasizing the importance of exploration and self-discovery. The results are fresh, adventurous, and accomplished.
We look forward to seeing you at the January 8 reception!
