Chick Singer Night 2019
Chick Singer Night (CSN) is the nation’s original and longest-running annual songfest and showcase for women. Join us at CSN Boston to hear great local and regional talent of all ages – all proceeds to benefit the PCA. Currently, CSN is held in 17 cities across the nation and in Sweden. The Boston Chapter of CSN was founded in 2004 and is hosted by Directors Marcia J. Macres of Westford and Jennifer Truesdale of Arlington, both local musicians and business owners.

Join the acclaimed Kurganov-Finehouse duo (violin/piano) for an exploration of music with magical and mystical origins. Ernest Chausson's Poeme is based on Ivan Turgenev’s story about a magical violin used to charm one’s beloved. Olivier Messiaen's Theme and Variations is a depiction of strange, transcendental, and supernatural powers. This unique program will not disappoint. Program: Messiaen Theme and Variations; Chausson Poème, Op. 25; Scriabin 2 Poèmes, Op. 32; Lera Auerbach Violin Sonata No. 3

Discover the ancient music that inspired some of John Coltrane’s best work and was made famous by Ravi Shankar at the Monterey Pop and Woodstock festivals. One of the world’s great musical traditions, North Indian or Hindustani music ranges from meditative and relaxing to energetic and exciting melodic and rhythmic improvisation freed from conventional western harmony.

Co-Artistic Director of the Piano Series, Bonnie Anderson, will be joined by Boston pianist, Stella Owen, for a fun afternoon of music for four-hands. The performers will give an overview of piano duet-playing in the United States, beginning the afternoon with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik and Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 (third movement) 3:15pm at the #Westford PCA

Shay Rudolph and Bonnie Anderson (Chamber Music and Piano Heritage series directors, respectively) will present a delightful program of favorite works for cello and piano. Bringing together the lively sweetness of Beethoven’s “Magic Flute” Variations, the mercurial romanticism of Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces, the magnificent richness of Brahms, and the evocative postimpressionistic vignettes of Nadia Boulanger, this music is sure to lift your spirits.
