Here we go again…
We have begun another hot and humid stretch and for some, this will be the third heatwave of the summer.
The WBZ Weather Team has highlighted both Tuesday and Wednesday as NEXT Weather Alert Days.
The National Weather Service has issued ANOTHER Heat Advisory through 8pm on Wednesday for most of Southern New England.
It certainly isn’t unusual to have temperatures in the 90s in late-July or, for that matter, several days in a row of 90+. The difference this summer has been the persistence of hot and humid days and the instances of high, near record setting heat.
Boston will reach or surpass their average number of 90-degree days for an entire year by the end of this month, still with lots of summer left in the tank.
The City currently sits at 14 days of 90+, with a few more coming this week.
Tuesday will be the hottest day of this stretch with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s.
Add in a very humid airmass, and the “feels-like” temperatures will be close to or slightly over 100 degrees.
Once again, record highs will be challenged in both Boston and Worcester. We are currently forecasting a tie of the near 100-year-old record in Boston.
Temperatures on Wednesday will only be a few degrees “cooler” and there will be no relief from the high humidity.
The end of the week remains a bit of a mystery. We are confident that the heatwave will end on Thursday and temperatures will drop significantly. It is unclear at this point how much rain we will get on Thursday and Friday. There is potential for a widespread, heavy rainfall during this timeframe, but models are having a difficult time resolving the formation and location of this storm potential as of now.
