Music by Pernambuco, Pereira, Morel,  Brouwer, J.S. Bach along with original compositions. A guitar clinic featuring Cuban and Brazilian rhythms will precede the performance.

2:30  PM – Clinic:  Rhythms of Brazil and Cuba. Attendees are invited to bring their instrument of choice.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Lezcano’s family emigrated to the United States in 1962.  He earned degrees from Peabody Conservatory (BM), University of South Carolina (MM), and Florida State University (Ph.d. music theory) where his teachers included Aaron Shearer and Christopher Berg.  Lezcano was invited to join the faculty of Keene State College in New Hampshire in 1991, where he is Professor of Music and teaches courses in guitar, music theory, and Latin American music. He directs the Guitar Orchestra and Latin American Ensemble.  He also participated in master classes taught by Michael Lorimer, Sharon Isbin and Leo Brouwer, the noted Cuban guitarist and composer who referred to him as “a magnificent guitarist –un guitarrista magnifico.”
Twice Grammy-nominated composer and guitarist José Manuel Lezcano has composed many works for solo guitar, guitar in chamber music, and concertos for solo guitar and guitar with wind instruments. He has been described as an “excellent guitarist and imaginative composer” by Fanfare magazine (2012).
Jose serves as Professor of Music at Keene State College (NH) where he coordinates the guitar program, conducts the KSC Guitar Orchestra and KSC Latin American Ensemble, and teaches a thriving studio of talented young guitarists.

About the PCA

Parish Center for the ArtsThe PCA is a warm, intimate performance venue that seats up to 125 people in a historic former church building at Westford Common. Each season we present New England’s best Folk, Jazz, Classical, Rock, and Comedy shows. As a non-profit community arts center, we also feature rotating art exhibits, barn dances, open mics, and theater performances.
