Anderson-Owen Duo: Four Hands at One Piano

Sun, Jan 26 @ 3:15 pm - 5:30 pm
0

Stella Owen, piano

Bonnie Owen and Stella Owen, pianists

3:15 PM Pre-concert talk / 4:00 PM Concert

Music from France, Germany, and Russia. By popular demand, the Anderson-Owen Duo returns to the PCA to perform L’Apres midi d’un faun by Debussy (arranged by Ravel), Morceaux by Rachmaninoff, and dances by Mozart, Brahms, and a couple of surprise composers.

Bonnie Anderson, piano

Bonnie Anderson — Co-Artistic Director of the Piano Series and Westford Academy alumna — is known for her expressive interpretations of Chopin, Brahms and Ravel. Collaborating with artists from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic, she has performed in Alice Tully Hall, Jordan Hall, Shalin Liu Performance Center, the Austrian Embassy, and numerous universities around the country. She performed Hindemith’s Trio for Piano, Saxophone and Viola with Branford Marsalis and Christof Huebner at the Nantucket Musical Arts Society Concert Series. After performing chamber music by Brahms, The Grand Rapids Press wrote, “Anderson’s gifts point to the poetic…the Brahms Sonata swept the listener away in ecstasy.”

Anderson will be joined by Boston pianist Stella Owen, who has been making music nearly all her life. She moved to Boston after receiving her MM in Piano Performance from Northwestern University. She has been Principal Keyboardist with Claflin Hill Symphony since 2011, accompanies regularly with the Newton Suzuki School, and has accompanied many choral groups as well as individual singers and instrumentalists. Owen regularly gives solo recitals, some including work with other musicians. She has always loved four-hands playing, so playing with Bonnie Anderson is a real treat!
