Concerts/Comedy

The PCA offers a variety of concerts and comedy shows from classical to jazz to rock & blues. In 2018-2019 we are introducing an exciting new Folk and World series. Our intimate space has a capacity of about 125 seated cafe-style so there isn’t a bad seat in the house. And you will almost always run into neighbors and friends at each event!

Mozart: Reiko Aizawa

Rieko Aizawa, pianist of the Horszowski Trio based in New York City, comes to the PCA to perform a solo piano recital. Ms. Aizawa will include a surprise performance in the second half of the program with her husband, Jesse Mills, violinist of the Horszowski Trio. Celebrating Mozart’s birthday, she will perform music by Mozart and composers influenced by him, such as Chopin and Debussy. The PCA is thrilled to have Steinway Artist and graduate of the Curtis Institute and Juilliard School, Rieko Aizawa, perform on our beautiful Steinway B.

Phill Argyris Quintet featuring Stan Strickland and Phil Grenadier

The music of the Phill Argyris Quintet is clearly defined by a strong connection to the American SongBook and Jazz tradition. Innovative original compositions are part of the group’s core concept and explorations.  Swinging hard with a deep focus on melody, the group aspires to offer something for all listeners.

North Indian Classical Duet with Amit Kavthekar and Suhail Khan

Discover the ancient music that inspired some of John Coltrane’s best work and was made famous by Ravi Shankar at the Monterey Pop and Woodstock festivals. One of the world’s great musical traditions, North Indian or Hindustani music features exciting melodic and rhythmic improvisation freed from conventional western harmony. Presenting will be two of New England’s top Indian classical musicians, Amit Kavthekar on tabla and Suhail Yusuf Khan on sarangi.

Rescheduled – new date TBA. Co-Artistic Director of the Piano Series, Bonnie Anderson, will be joined by Boston pianist, Stella Owen, for a fun afternoon of music for four-hands. The performers will give an overview of piano duet-playing in the United States, beginning the afternoon with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik and Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 (third movement)
