Classical guitar series debuts

A new collaboration with the Boston Classical Guitar Society brings New England’s best guitar ensembles to the PCA.

The debut season will feature four solo and ensemble guitar concerts, complementing the PCA’s long-running Piano Heritage and Chamber Music series. This year, all classical concerts will be held monthly on Sundays at 4:00 p.m.

The series debuts on September 22 with guitar and oboe by the Newsam-Herlehy Duo, followed in October by Jose Manuel Lezcano, who will feature music of Latin America. Mr. Lezcano will also hold a pre-concert clinic on Brazilian and Cuban rhythms, a great opportunity to learn more about these revered traditions.

The Luca Duo, featuring guitar and voice, perform in December. The season closer in April will feature no less than three guitarists, performing as the Great Necks Trio.

The guitar series is curated by George Ward, longtime board member of the Boston Classical Guitar Society and a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston. More information about George and the BCGS can be found at their website.

We hope you will join us on Sundays this season to appreciate the best of classical music through the ages. Music students attend for free. Find the season full classical schedule on our classical page.
