Westford Regional Art Event

2022 WRAE scheduled for September 

With the rise of Covid Omicron, the PCA decided to move the WRAE from March to Autumn in the hope that this annual volunteer-driven celebration can be safely enjoyed.  The Westford Regional Art Event showcases emerging and established artists within our local and regional communities. Our goal is to encourage individuals of all ages to share their artistic expression through an open forum.

The Westford Regional Art Event shows an average of 500+ pieces from 350+ artists. We celebrate this work with music and refreshments at gala awards receptions for adults and children.

Instructions

Eligibility

  • You do not need to be a Westford resident to participate.
  • Work must be original–no work produced using a purchased kit.
  • Work should not have been shown at a previous WRAE.
  • You do not need to attend any of the receptions to participate.
  • You (or a friend) must deliver and pick up the artwork on time.  See Important Dates and Instructions.

Online Registration Required (August 20 through September 17) (link to be supplied at a later date)

It’s very easy for you and for the PCA!  Online registration saves you time at drop off and provides information we need to create wall labels and a program for the exhibit.

Registration information includes:  Artist’s name, address, phone number, the work’s title, category (Adult, YA, K-2, 3-5, 6-8), and price if for sale. If not for sale enter NFS on the form. Please proofread registration information carefully as it will be printed exactly as entered (including upper/lower case).

  • Individual artists can register one or two artworks (See Size Requirements.)
  • Register up to ten (10) artists on one registration form. This is useful for Art Teachers. (See size requirements.)

Entry categories and fees

Fees are per/each piece–not per person.

  • Seniors (65+): $8
  • Adults (22+): $10
  • Children (Gr. K-2, 3-5)/Teens (Gr 6-8)/Young Adults (Gr 9 – age 21): $5

Mediums 

The WRAE accepts work in all mediums and tools including: Collage, Computer Art, Drawing, Fiber, Jewelry, Metals, Mixed Media, Opaque Paint (Oil, Acrylic, et al.) Printmaking  (Engraving, Etching, Linocut, Monotype, Silkscreen, Woodcut) Transparent Paint (Watercolor et al.) Size requirements

  • Limited to two (2) original works per artist, up to size 24″ x 24″ (including frame). If over 24″ height or width, only one entry is permitted (maximum 36″, including frame).
  • The WRAE guarantees hanging at least one work for each artist. Every attempt will be made to hang all submitted work but, in the event of a lack of hanging space, please indicate your first choice by entering it as “Entry # 1.”

Framing and Hanging Requirements

  • All Adult and Young Adult work must be framed and ready to hang with hanging wire and secure eye hooks. See Make sure your artwork is ready for hanging.
  • Children’s works must be framed or adhered to foam core board, and have either secure eye hooks or an adhesive tab with an attached wire for hanging.

Make Artwork Ready for Hanging with a Hanging Wire

  • The PCA hanging system uses hooks, not nails, to display artwork. It is not compatible with frames with a claw tooth (sawtooth, zigzag) hanging bar, which is designed to work with nails).  
  • For the safety of your work, and the work around it, all works should be framed and ready to hang with secure eye hooks and a hanging wire. Unframed canvases are acceptable if they have a hanging wire.
  • Children’s works that are not framed must be adhered to foam core board and mounted with a securely attached adhesive tab and hanging wire on the back. Using a hot glue gun to secure the wire is one of the few methods that work. Tape of any kind (duct, masking, Scotch, etc.) is not acceptable as the wire will slip through the tape.

Labeling Artwork

Label your artwork on the back with your full name and contact information (telephone number, email address and street address.)

This is in addition to the information you provide in your online registration (which the PCA uses to generate wall labels and the exhibit program. When you register online, we will print identification labels that will be attached to your artwork at drop off. The labels contain Artist’s name, address, phone number, the work’s title, category (Adult, YA, K-2, 3-5, 6-8), and price (or “NFS”).

Art Sales

  • Work may be offered for sale. Include this in your online registration with a price–but please, no PORs (price on request). If your work is not for sale, mark “NFS.”
  • Inquiries about sales will be referred to the artist.
  • All sales are subject to a 20% commission paid to the PCA. The artist is responsible for remitting the commission to the PCA.

Drop off artwork at the PCA

  • Monday, September 19, 2022, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

All artwork, including children’s art, will remain on display until October 2. Please let us know if your art cannot hang until that date. [where? Online registration?]

Pick-up Artwork

Sunday, October 2, 2022, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

All artwork– Adult, Young Adult and Children’s– MUST be picked up during these hours. 

Liability

Neither the PCA nor the WRAE is responsible for the loss or damage to any work submitted to this exhibition. Artists should carry their own insurance if desired. Submitting artwork to this exhibition implies agreement by the artist to these conditions.
