Dandiya (Indian folk)

Update: January session rescheduled to Jan 20, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

New for 2017-2018, the PCA is proud to introduce Dandiya Nights, a popular folk dance tradition from western India. All Westford residents are welcome to learn and enjoy this fun “stick dance.”

Dandiya Raas is the most popular communal dance of Gujarat, usually done in a group, by both men and women. A special feature of the dance is the colorful attire worn by the dancers and the colorfully decorated sticks, which are struck against each other in concert with the beat.

Sticks are provided, but those who have dandiya at home should bring them to the session.

Based on attendee feedback, we might broaden our sessions to include other Indian folk and Bollywood dance styles. So come on out and experience the fun. Beginners welcome.

Attendance & fees

Suggested contribution of $5 per person (kids 12 & under free): all proceeds will help fund the PCA’s Bell Tower Renovation project.

Due to space limitations, PCA members, volunteers, and Westford residents have preferred admission.
