A harsh week of winter weather ahead with dangerous cold and the threat of more snow

After a surprise snow event this weekend, we may be in for some more snow this week as a very active and cold pattern settles in to New England.

Monday:  Partly sunny, by far the nicest day of the week, high near 40.  Slight risk of a late day flurry or snow squall as an Arctic front approaches.

Tuesday:  Increasing clouds, much colder, highs 15-20…watching for the development of an ocean storm Tuesday evening which will likely bring some light and fluffy snow Tuesday night…best chance of significant accumulation would be in SE MA, but as much as 2-4″ is possible in the Westford area.  4-8″+ is possible from Boston to the South.

Wednesday:  Snow tapers during the morning, some delays or cancellations are likely…bitterly cold, highs in the teens with wind chills well below zero…highs 10-15.

EXTENDED:  Low temps Thursday and Friday morning will likely be below zero with daytime highs only in the teens.  There is potential for yet another ocean storm around Thursday, but at this point it looks like it may just miss out to sea.
