Katie McNally grew up right here in Westford, MA participating in the local school’s strings program, and found her calling as a now internationally-recognized player and modern day composer of the Scottish- and Cape Breton-style repertoire. Appearing on the cover of Fiddler Magazine in 2014, and a 2017 feature article in Strings Magazine, Katie has delighted audiences from The Newport Folk Festival to Benaroya Hall in Seattle, from venerable folk institutions like The Freight and Salvage in San Francisco to Club Passim in Cambridge, MA to tours in Britain, Spain, and more! Called “the new face of Scottish fiddling in the USA” by The Living Tradition, Katie’s playing is infused with passion, drive and a great deal of high-energy fun!

Join Katie right back here at home with a group of very talented friends assembled from the thriving Boston Folk / Indie music scene in a concert for the benefit of NuDay Syria, a local NGO with international reach. The evening’s concert will feature an extraordinary lineup including Matt and Shannon Heaton, Emerald Rae, Mariel Vandersteel and Louise Bichan. Special guest and founder of NuDay Syria, Nadia Alawa, will be in attendance.

Guided by the motto, “One Person at a Time, One Humanity,” NuDay Syria was founded by local mother turned activis, Nadia Alawa, to provide aid to refugee mothers and children in Syria.  According to Nadia, who was the 2017 James W. Foley Humanitarian Award Honoree, “All you have to do is care, and want change in Syria to happen. Together we can help and make a difference.” All proceeds from this event go to NuDay Syria (a NH registered 501c3 non-profit organization).

Tickets: $25  http://mktix.com/pca

Sunday, April , 2018, 3:00 pm – Harmonie Transverse

Harmonie Transverse, a flute ensemble, was formed in 2002 by flutists who performed with the  New England  Conservatory’s Metropolitan Flute Orchestra. These musicians, who are performers, teachers, parents, and artists, play a wide range of flutes. These include the piccolo, C Flute, G Alto Flute, Bass Flute and Contra Bass Flute, which provide a six octave range nearly covering the full range of a piano and an orchestra.

Harmonie Transverse is part of the  Artist in Residence program  (AIR) at  Wachusett Regional High School  and is supported by TEMPO (To Encourage Musical Performance Opportunities) the music booster’s group at the High School. The group takes its name from the word  Harmonie  for “wind band”  and  Transverse  for “side blown flute”.

Members of Harmonie Transverse have performed with the New England Conservatory in recent concert tours in France, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and Slovakia, as well as performing at several recent National Flute Conventions. Over the past decade, Harmonie Transverse has performed as part of Trinity Lutheran Church Concert Series, the Danforth Art Series, Berlin’s Holiday kick-off, Wachusett Regional High School Black Box Concert Series, Charlton Middle School, and at several weddings. We look forward to bringing our special mixture of well known classical music as well as music specifically written for flute choir to Westford and the PCA!

Concert is FREE. Email questions to HarmonieTransverse@gmail.com.
